A sailing & cruising school on a human scale

Learn how to to sail.

You can spend all your nights trying to digest the Glénans manual without falling asleep or apply a chronology learned during another course: what matters is doing and redoing, and making mistakes to remember and learn.

I do not believe in dogmas and instead I strive to help you develop a real ability to adapt to the different situations.

Important detail: Vent de Marseille welcomes students aged between 15 and 90, of all levels and I never take more than 4 on board at a time.

Meet Piero

Piero was born and floated in the canals of the Venetian lagoon. From a young age, he drifted from island to island and bay to bay along the entire Balkan coast, before slowly making his way to the Aegean Sea, where he fell madly in love and found a true sense of home. However, the winds and currents of today's working life have pushed him beyond Scylla and Charybdis (the Strait of Messina, between Sicily and Calabria) to the Gulf of Lion (the southern French coast) : settled in France since 2010, today he lives near the Vieux Port of Marseille, where he teaches sailing to adults and children, participates in the annual regattas in the harbor, organizes sailing cruises for the Child Welfare Service in partnership with associations, as well as organising sailing school cruises across the Mediterranean sea.

Piero spends nearly 180 days a year at sea. Recently he finally crossed the Pillars of Hercules and ventured to the French Antilles accompanying a family in the realization of their lifelong dream, sailing through the Caribbean propelled by the Trade winds.

Piero's childhood

first steps...

It was truly my father and mother who introduced me to sailing and coastal and offshore cruising.
While my first aquatic experiences took place in the Venetian lagoon and the canals of Venice, my birth island, my  truly first offshore experiences were in "Yugoslavia", along the coasts of present-day Croatia, Montenegro and Albania, in the Adriatic Sea.

.. later,

Six months before the COVID-19 pandemic, I "self-isolated" in the Aegean Sea (Greece) aboard my old Hallberg-Rassy Monsun 31 (9.4m), on which I lived and sailed until the summer of 2022. During those fifteen months of life at sea, in addition to hundreds of miles around the Aegean and Ionian Seas, I resumed my studies (in oceanography and the blue economy) and made a 45-minute documentary. about an invasive fish, the lionfish.
